چکیده
In the spring period of Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for Study Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) expedition, an initiative was in place to increase radiosounding frequency during warm air intrusions Atlantic sector. Two episodes with increased surface temperatures were captured April 12–22, 2020, a targeted observing (TOP). The large-scale circulation efficiently guided pulses into and observed temperature from −30°C near melting conditions marking transition spring, as did not return values below −20°C. Back-trajectory analysis identifies 3 pathways transport. For first maximum, airmass over northern Norwegian coast then MOSAiC site. second pathway south, it passed Greenland ice sheet arrived at observational site but dry due precipitation on windward side. third along arriving both moist. back trajectories originating pressure levels between 700 900 hPa line up vertically, which is somewhat surprising this dynamically active environment. processes acting trajectory 800 MOSAIC are analyzed. Vertical profiles energy exchange presented depict transformation based ERA5 reanalysis fields. TOP could be used model evaluation Lagrangian studies improve representation small-scale physical that important transformation. A comparison observations demonstrates challenges processes, such turbulence contributions various terms budget, often misrepresented numerical weather prediction climate models.

متن کاملClimate stability during the Pliocene warm period
[1] We present a high-resolution climate record from a sediment core spanning an 80-kyr interval of time during the mid-Pliocene epoch, when warmer conditions and lower global ice volume prevailed worldwide. Oxygen and carbon isotope analyses were made on benthic and planktonic foraminifera from ODP Site 981 in the North Atlantic. The amplitude and approximate recurrence interval of suborbital ...
متن کاملWas the Medieval Warm Period Global?
he reconstruction of global temperatures during the last millennium can provide important clues for how climate may change in the future. A recent, widely cited reconstruction ( ) leaves the impression that the 20th century warming was unique during the last millennium. It shows no hint of the Medieval Warm Period (from around 800 to 1200 A.D.) during which the Vikings colonized Greenland ( ), ...
متن کاملVisually targeted reaching in horse-head grasshoppers
Visually targeted reaching to a specific object is a demanding neuronal task requiring the translation of the location of the object from a two-dimensionsal set of retinotopic coordinates to a motor pattern that guides a limb to that point in three-dimensional space. This sensorimotor transformation has been intensively studied in mammals, but was not previously thought to occur in animals with...
متن کاملAnalysis of statistics and anomalies of rainfall in Iran during the Warm period(1951-2010)
Investigating the variability of the spatial-temporal pattern of rainfall, which can lead to climate change, due to its strong impact, is of interest to various scientists. For this purpose, after receiving the daily precipitation data of 27 stations for the period of 60 years (2010-1951), its quality and the total monthly precipitation and statistics necessary for the continuation of the resea...
